Motherhood brings about many changes and it's easy to feel like we are losing our sense of self. Using meditation and mindfulness can help you thrive and fall in love with the person you are becoming.
Class Description
Motherhood inevitably changes us as people. Our priorities change, and as we let some things go in favour of new ones it can be scary. We may end up focusing too much on what we’ve lost, and feeling like we have lost ourselves in the process. In this session I want to share with you how you can use easy and simple meditation and mindfulness techniques to help you embrace motherhood without feeling like you have lost yourself or your identity. My wish for you is that you become aware of these changes and that instead of resenting them you thrive as a mum and fall in love with who you are becoming. You don’t need to know much about meditation or to have meditated before participating in this session - we will cover some of the basics!
Class Materials
None required during the class, but you might want to print out some of the materials.
Sessions Overview
- Introduction and what to expect: A short introduction to the sessions and what to expect.
- What is meditation and mindfulness and how can you use it practically in your daily life?: In this session you will learn the differences between practising meditation and mindfulness and how you can easily apply each to your daily life. You will finish the session by doing an exercise to practice focus and awareness.
- Unexpected Emotions and Big Expectations: In this session you will learn how to use mindful awareness to understand and overcome the unexpected emotions that arise in motherhood. We will practice a short meditation to help you gain awareness of those emotions and let go of some of the more uncomfortable emotions that you might be feeling.
- Embracing You: In this session we discuss how our view of the world and the stories we tell ourselves, shape our experiences and our perspective; including how some of those beliefs might be weighing us down in ways we don’t expect.
- Practicing a guided meditation: For this last session, find a comfortable place, close your eyes and relax by listening to a 21min meditation.
