Grab your child and a few art materials for this fun introductory sculpting class! Great for honing fine motor skills and spatial awareness. Projects include adorable garden ornaments, a 2-D drawing of an elephant, and then sculpting the elephant in 3D!
Class Description
Clay is an amazing material for kids to play with, and when you weave it into activities it can be used to improve multiple developmental skills. We designed this session to help you improve your child’s attention span, dexterity, spatial skills and hand-eye coordination while they work their way from a 2-Dimensional image to a 3-Dimensional projection of that image. Clay, unlike painting and drawing, helps children understand the 3-Dimensional aspect of the world. Our class is fun way to make that come to life! Work alongside your child to mould some garden ornaments and a sculpture of an elephant from their own drawing as reference. The material list is simple, and you can even use what you already have at home, such as play dough or any homemade dough. Art is one of the best ways for a child to communicate and express themselves. We encourage you to take this smple class with your child and introduce them to this multi-verse of possibilities and imagination.
Class Materials
1) Air dry Modelling Clay 2) Wooden Sticks 3) Acrylic Paints 4) A set of googly eyes 5) Paper and Pencil 6) An elephant figurine 7) Spoon or Butter knife
Your Instructor
Snehal Goyal is a Pune based visual artist, who received her BFA from Bharti Vidyapeeth College of Fine Arts and went on to pursue her Masters in Visual Art from the MS University in Vadodra. Taking print making as her focal point, she goes beyond its traditional form to also include different media in her work. Her on-going work brings to life the relationships we form with the inanimate objects that are an inherent part of our everyday lives. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally in galleries and fairs like Gallery Espace, New Delhi and Neiman Gallery at Columbia School of Art amongst many others. She has been a resident artist at the Glasgow Print Studio and is also very passionately working to create ‘Vistaar Art Studio’ - a collaborative platform for artists. Raised in Art was born when I (Snehal) had Adira (daughter now 5 ). It was through her that I realised that art has no bounds of age nor a barrier of mediums. We are a simple mother-daughter duo flipping paints, dipping our feet in the mud and exploring one story book at a time. Join us and take the time to make the conscious choice of letting art deep in your lives as well, trust us, it’s going to be a beautiful journey.
