In this class we explore science and math with racing cars. We explore ramps, gradients, speed and friction as we race our own cars and learn about how to compare speeds on different slopes and surfaces you can create at home.

Class Description

Little STEAMers classes give you the chance to play, explore and learn together at home using toys and resources you'll mostly have already. This class focuses on having fun with ramps as we learn about gradient, speed and friction and race our own cars. Each 30-minute class starts with a mystery bag, a story and a warm up all related to the class theme. We then dive into three STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) activities that I'll demo so you can have a go at home if you'd like. Then we always finish with our ever popular Little STEAMers song with actions. These classes are specially designed by early years specialists for you to play, explore and learn together from the comfort of your own home. The activities are always accessible and easy to replicate after the class and because you're doing them at home with your own resources you can keep returning to them as often as you like and keep learning too. With every class I give you a parent information sheet to support your explorations together at home and an education guide to understand the benefits of Little STEAMers classes for your child's learning and development. Little STEAMers is founded on the early years education model of children learning through play and so it's important children are having lots of fun when they learn. That's why we always make sure Little STEAMers is plenty of fun for children and for you as parents too. Happy exploring! - Laura

Laura is a trained and experienced teacher and STEM education expert from the UK. She loves making science, technology, engineering and maths fun and accessible for children of all ages and particularly children in the years, before formal schooling starts. Little STEAMers classes are specially designed to give you fun and positive learning experiences together from your own home and with your own resources. As you take part in more classes, your child's knowledge and understanding of STEM subjects grows and so does their love of learning.
