Learn basics concepts of coding, and how to teach them to your child through unplugged activities!

Class Description

In this multi session class, parents will learn some of the fundamental concepts used in coding. Our educator, Vedika, from Coding and More will explain the concepts in a simple manner using analogies from daily life so that as a parent you can then expose your child to the world of coding using unplugged activities. Coding as a discipline teaches children logical thinking, problem solving and creativity. As you follow our classes, we assure you that you too will enjoy learning about sequencing, debugging, loops, conditionals and many other concepts. Each session is around one or two concepts and we give you ideas on how to practice it with your child. We hope you enjoy our sessions as much as we did while we were making them for you.

Sessions Overview

  1. Introduction to Coding - Sequences: The first session is an introduction to coding - what it is, why it's important, and the right age to start teaching it to your child. In this session you will learn two important coding concepts - Sequencing and Algorithms.
  2. Session 2 - Repeat Loops & Debugging: In the second session you will learn two new concepts: Repeat Loops and Debugging
  3. Session 3 - Events and Digital Safety: Just like physical safety, Digital, or Online Safety is an important concept that we must explain to our children. In this session we also cover a new coding concept: Events.
  4. Session 4 - Binary Code & Nested Loop: Did you know that everything that is stored on a computer is stored as zeros and ones? In this session you will learn about Binary Codes and Nested Loops.
  5. Session 5 - Conditionals: Coding concepts are just like life lessons. "Conditionals" or "if else" are essential coding concepts that are similar to consequences of our actions in the real world.
  6. Session 6 - While & Until Loops: In this session you will learn about a different kind of conditional - While Loops and Until Loops.
