Ellie Bambury

I was born in England and emigrated to New Zealand with my two siblings and parents at age 12. Moving countries was an enthralling experience, a big culture shock, and something I will always be grateful for. In 2013, after graduating college and deferring my place at university, I embarked on my 'gap year'. During that year, I had a number of transformative experiences. One experience in particular - au pairing in France - was so eye-opening and developmental that it led to me publishing a memoir (The Big Sister Project) about the life lessons and discoveries I made during those coming-of-age years. Though unknown to me at the time of creating the book, the process of writing, editing and publishing my story enabled me to realise just how many new insights I could gain about myself, my behaviours, worldview, habits, thought processes, interactions, connections, abilities, self-talk, visions for my future, ideas, and so much more, once I put myself in that critical thinking yet creative mode. I spent the first year as a new author going to networking events, developing my public speaking and presentation skills, speaking in schools about having a growth and adventure mindset when deciding what to do in life, and reaching out to people of all ages running writing workshops to empower them to write their own stories! With 7+ years of working with babies right through to retirees (from diverse backgrounds both in the mainstream and disability sectors), and a strong academic and creative background, it wasn't long before I started to find my passions for connecting, learning and guiding, come together - which is how I got into life coaching. I hope and believe that anyone who works with or learns from me, in any capacity, will walk away feeling empowered, excited, and engaged with who they are and what they can bring to the world - no matter how big or small their contribution.
