By the time they reach their second birthday, most children walk with complete ease, even on the balls of their feet. They also leave the floor more easily when jumping, and some can climb a short set of stairs without support.

They have greater mental organization, which allows them to classify objects into several groups, such as large, medium and small. This mental organization also allows them to perform two-step instructions, such as: “Take off your shoes and put them away,”

They have already formed a basic understanding of the past, but they need more time to form an equivalent understanding of the future.

Many of their actions are less impulsive, as they can now imagine the consequences of their actions and think before doing.

Vocabulary size varies widely between children, but many already use more than 50 words and understand between 150 and 300. Some of their sentences will be longer and may include up to 4 words, but they still need to pause between sentences. This allows you to have basic conversations with your child and know their likes and preferences.
