Here are tips from experts for ensuring that your child thrives on a vegetarian diet:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Ask about regular blood screenings.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ask about routine blood panels at well checks. Children who don\u2019t eat meat may be at risk for certain nutrient deficiencies, such as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/7610022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>iron and vitamin B12<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which are abundant in various meats. Although many plant-based foods contain iron, the body tends to absorb iron from meat more efficiently.
